Three in dock for murder of Harmony Gold regional manager

Johannesburg - Three men are expected to appear in the Welkom Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, for the murder of Harmony Gold regional manager Simphiwe Kubheka. 

Khubeka, 36, was shot dead in his car on September 28. 

Free State police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said two of the three men, aged 27 and 35, were arrested on Sunday. While the third, 25-year-old Lehlohonolo Thethe was arrested on Friday. Thethe appeared in court on Monday

 

“Kubheka left Tshepong mine driving in his vehicle when he was shot. He sustained two gunshot wounds, on the head and on the right arm,

and was declared dead on the scene”, Makhele said at the time.

There has been speculation that he was murdered by illegal miners.
