Johannesburg - Twenty-nine people were left injured, two critically, in two separate accidents around Johannesburg on Friday morning.

According to Emer-G-Med spokeswoman Danielle Dooley, a serious bus accident occurred on the corner of Barry Hertzog Avenue and Braids Road in Greenside, leaving 20 people injured.

“On arrival paramedics found that a bakkie had collided at high speed with a bus. Paramedics triaged the patients finding that two had sustained critical injuries and four others had sustained moderate injuries. Multiple others sustained minor injuries,” she said.

She added that the two critical patients required Advanced Life Support care.

“Johannesburg Metro Police were on scene to investigate the events leading up to the crash,” she said.

In a second accident, two taxis were involved in a head-on collision on Vickers Road in City Deep, leaving nine people with injuries ranging from minor to moderate, Doodley said.

On Thursday 13 people injured in a taxi crash on the corner of Allendale and Boxer Road in Midrand with three in a serious condition.

According to Dooley, the accident involved a taxi and light motor vehicle.

“Injuries ranged from minor to serious. The patients were treated on the scene before being transported to hospital.

The taxi was seen lying on its side with its bottom completely crushed in.
