Johannesburg - A teenage boy died on Wednesday and another was seriously injured when they were hit by a bakkie in Johannesburg.

ER24 spokeswoman Vanessa Jackson said the boys, who were in their school uniforms, were crossing a road in Bezuidenhout Valley.

An Opel Corsa bakkie hit them at about 3.30pm near the intersection of 10th Avenue and Broadway Road.

“The two boys lay almost side by side, motionless in the road near the intersection.”

Jackson said a 13-year-old boy was placed on advanced life support and was taken to the Bedford Gardens hospital in a critical condition. A 15-year-old boy died on the scene.
