Johannesburg – A chemical leak from a building situated along La Bassee Road in Germiston affected workers resulting in the factory being evacuated on Monday morning, ER24 paramedics have said.
Spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics found about 100 people standing outside the factory.
"The factory had evacuated the workers after one of the chemicals leaked," said Meiring adding that those affected by the chemical were treated. He said many of those treated had experienced breathing difficulties. Local authorities closed off the road as a precaution.
Meiring said local authorities were on the scene.
