Johannesburg - People in Ekurhuleni will be transported free of charge to view former president Nelson Mandela's body lying in state at the Union Buildings, the municipality said on Wednesday.

“The city has arranged 20 buses to ferry residents free of charge to pay homage to the international icon ahead of the funeral on Sunday, December 15,” said spokesman Themba Gadebe.

“Nine pick-up points have been identified and will open at 6am. The buses, which will be clearly marked for identification, will all depart for Tshwane at 7am. They will return from 5pm.”

He said the municipality would transport people to the Union Buildings on Friday.

The pick-up points would be in Daveyton, Kwa-Thema, Tsakane, Tembisa and Vosloorus.
