Johannesburg - Two men arrested in Johannesburg on Thursday for alleged possession of counterfeit goods could be part of a syndicate, Gauteng police said.
“Police believe that the suspects are part of a syndicate dealing in counterfeit goods and more suspects could be arrested,” Major Mack Mngomezulu said.
Following a tip-off, police found boxes of counterfeit goods at a house in Mondeor. The boxes contained tracksuits and T-shirts bearing the colours and logos of various soccer teams, including Spanish club Barcelona, and local club Kaizer Chiefs.
An Algerian and a Moroccan man were arrested and charged with possession of counterfeit goods. They were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Commercial Crimes Court soon.
