Pretoria - Oscar’s brother Carl Pistorius on Sunday afternoon said all was well with Oscar and he did not try to commit suicide.

According to Carl, his brother simply slipped and fell in his cell at the Kgosi Mampuru II Prison in Pretoria, where is he serving a six-year-jail term for murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Carl said in a Tweet: " Jenna and I have just seen Oscar and he is doing well given the circumstances. He was in good spirit. I know there are reports saying that he tried to injure himself - they are completely untrue and sensational....He slipped in his cell and injured himself, nothing serious."

It is not clear whether the Jenna referred to by Carl is Oscar's former girlfriend, Jenna Edkins. She was seen a few times at the high court in Pretoria, attending his trial.

Oscar was taken to the Kalafong Hospital in Pretoria West on Saturday after he had injured his wrists.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that he tried to commit suicide, although Correctional Services denied this.
