Johannesburg - PowerFM boss Given Mkhari and his wife will no longer appear in court on assault charges after the charges were withdrawn, the duo confirmed on Monday.

Mkhari and his wife were due to appear in the Randburg Magistrate's Court on Monday after they laid assault charges against each other on Saturday night.

Mkhari had laid charges against his wife at the Randburg Police Station and was shortly followed by his wife. 

The couple in a joint statement confirmed the incident and the withdrawal of the charges against each other. 

"We confirm that an unfortunate incident happened between us in our home on Saturday, July 14, 2018. 

"We both individually reported the matter to the police. We are now withdrawing each case to resolve the matter in the privacy of our home."

PowerFM also confirmed the incident in a tweet.

The police could not be reached for comment.
