Johannesburg - Gauteng police on Monday confirmed that a manhunt has been launched for three suspects following a robbery at an Alberton mall.

The incident reportedly unfolded on Sunday afternoon at around 11am at New Redruth Village shopping centre.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo, the suspects entered the store pretending to be customers.

...they [then] suddenly pointed firearms at the employees, demanding money and cellphones.

"An undisclosed amount of money and cellphones were taken from the store by the suspects who then fled the scene.

No shots were fired during the incident and no injuries were reported.

Video footage of the incident has since emerged, showing a heavy presence at the mall following the incident.
