Gold Reef City Casino in Johannesburg was robbed early on Friday morning, a casino spokesperson said.
"Gold Reef City can confirm that an armed robbery took place this morning at 4.15am," Claudia Crooney said.
She said a group of armed men entered the property and took an undisclosed sum of money and shots were fired prior to the robbers fleeing the property.
No staff or guests were injured.
The casino had video footage of the robbery and were working with the police.
