The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) interviews for four posts on the Constitutional Court bench are continuing in Soweto's Kliptown on Monday.
After an intense Sunday, which ended just before 10pm, with the long-awaited interview of Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe, Supreme Court of Appeal Judge Chris Jafta will take the hotseat.
Jafta is one of the judges to whom Hlophe allegedly made an inappropriate approach relating to a judgment on President Jacob Zuma, while Jafta was seconded to the Constitutional Court.
The commissioners had questioned the candidates on some of their judgements and transformation of the judiciary, but had also asked many of the candidates for their views on the controversy between Hlophe and the Constitutional Court.
Perceptions of racism in the judiciary also featured in the questioning.
The candidates on Sunday were asked about reports that some candidates wanted to withdraw because they did not have faith in the JSC.
On the interview list for Monday are Jafta, judges Mahomed Jajbhay, Sisi Khampepe, Franklin Kroon, Frans Legodi, Mandisa Maya, Dunstan Mlambo, Judge President Mogoeng Mogoeng and Judge Dennis Davis.
Monday's interviews began with Jafta being asked to talk about his work experience and what he would bring to the Constitutional Court. - Sapa
