The Friends of Jacob Zuma Trust, the body mobilising defence funds for ANC Deputy President Jacob Zuma, announced new fundraising features on Wednesday, including the downloading of Zuma's Umshini Wami as a cellphone ringtone at a cost of R10.

This and many other fund-raising initiatives were announced by the administrator of the trust, Barnabas Xulu. He said Zuma's trademark song would be available in "polyphonic and monotones can be downloaded at a cost of R5. The truetone bearing Zuma's original voice can be downloaded at a cost of R10".

Xulu said owing to the immense popularity of the Friends of Jacob Zuma website, communication to the site had been extended to include cellphone content.

"It will now be possible to send messages via cellphone to the highly popular messages of support page at a cost of R3. This page has become a vibrant centre for political debate by ordinary South Africans concerned by what has happened to Zuma.

"Cellphone users can download autographed images of Zuma as wallpapers from the photo gallery on the website. If a user downloads more than one, they are automatically entered into a draw to win a life-sized, autographed portrait with Msholozi," he said.

Xulu said although the corruption case against Zuma had been struck off the roll, the trust still faced outstanding legal costs.

Meanwhile, Zuma will address a meeting at the Durban-Westville Campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday. The speech will centre on the issue of racism at the campus.
