Marcelle Krogmann, the wife of Maak 'n Las television presenter Andries Krogmann, died from severe burn wounds in Tygerberg Hospital, Cape Town, on Tuesday night.
Tygerberg hospital superintendent Richard Muller said Krogmann was admitted to hospital about three weeks ago after she collapsed in the shower and sustained third-degree burns to the left side of her body.
She underwent two operations, but suffered a kidney failure that prevented doctors from operating a third time.
Her heart and lungs also collapsed.
Krogmann, 40, is survived by her husband and two children, aged 12 and 10. -
