Durban - A 42-year-old man who raped his pregnant ex-girlfriend is expected to appear in the KwaMsane Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
KwaZulu-Natal police said the 24-year-old pregnant victim had been leaving her cousins homestead in Nsolweni in KwaMsane when she met her ex-boyfriend along the road.
It is alleged the woman spotted the ex-boyfriend and attempted to flee the scene but he managed to dragged her to his friend’s taxi.
"They drove to suspect’s homestead where he allegedly assaulted and raped her. She was released in the morning," said Captain Nqobile Gwala
The victim reported the incident to KwaMsane police and the suspect was arrested at his home on Monday.
In a separate incident, a man who raped a pregnant woman and six other woman was sentenced to life in prison. The Harding woman was 7 months pregnant at the time.
The Daily News reported that KwaZulu-Natal Judge President Achmat Jappie sentenced serial rapist Mlungisi Mjoli, 32, to an additional 76 years' imprisonment for kidnapping, robbery, assault, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
