Durban - The Pick n Pay Taste of Durban in association with Orbit Sugarfree Chewing Gum is back from Friday 26 to Sunday July 28 at Suncoast. For the occasion, chefs from nine of Durban’s best restaurants will create special menus of starter-sized dishes, including their very own signature dishes, designed to reflect their individual philosophies, while showcasing seasonal as well as premium ingredients.

Following its enormous success in 2012, Taste of Durban promises to be the most exciting “foodie” event of the year. Food 4 Thought, a restaurant revenue-generating project, has been chosen as the official charity for this year’s event.

Food 4 Thought raises funds and awareness, for the expansion and work of Umthombo, a Durban-based organisation that empowers street children to be able to leave street life and take their place in the community as proud citizens.

Lining up to show off their talents at the 2013 event, are chefs Marcelle Roberts from Café 1999 and Louise Potgieter from Havana Grill at Suncoast and Little Havana.

Award-winning executive chef, Jackie Cameron, from Hartford House will also be showcasing some of his specialities.

Representing a selection of uMhlanga’s top eateries are Chris Glocke from BAR-BA-COA Argentinian Grill and Butcher Boys, as well as Elements Café Bar at The Beverly Hills.

Lucy Markewicz will be flying the colours for Freedom Café and popular Indian restaurant Amaravathi Palki makes the total of participating restaurants to nine of Durban’s best.
