Durban - A man has been jailed for 25 years by the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court for raping his 10-year-old daughter, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Thursday.
The 35-year-old father was sentenced on Wednesday, said Captain Thulani Zwane.
He raped his daughter on January 5 in their Mountain Rise home and told her not to tell anyone.
About three weeks later, he told her he wanted to rape her again.
“The victim allegedly told her grandmother not to leave her alone until her mother arrived and she later told the mother.”
KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Lieutenant-General Mmamonnye Ngobeni said the conviction would send a strong message to other criminals who targeted vulnerable women and children. - Sapa
