Parts of a Bluff home that had been damaged by last Tuesday’s storm came crashing down on Tuesday morning.

One person was inside the home and four puppies were on a balcony that collapsed.

There were no injuries to any people.

Rescue Care paramedic  Garrith Jamieson said Rescue Care paramedics were on scene and that one person was in the home at the time of the collapse but was not injured. The four puppies had to be retrieved and were brought back up from the rubble and bush below, seemingly in good health.

The incident was first reported at about 9am.

Last Tuesday’s was the biggest storm to hit the city in decades. At least fourteen people were killed and the eThekwini municipality has put the damage at more than R250 million, excluding works required to repair roads.

Although it was still tallying some of the costs, damage was done to roads, RDP housing, schools, hospitals, government buildings and other  infrastructure.
