Responding to reports of an accident in Umgeni Park, Durban early on Monday, rescue services found a wrecked vehicle but no one at the scene.

Crisis Medical reported that at about 3.30am on Monday, its team responded to a motor vehicle collision on Riverside Road in Umgeni Park. 

“On arrival on scene the team were met with the twisted frame of a Chevrolet LDV. Despite an extensive search, the driver, or any other occupant of the vehicle, could not be located.”

In a statement, Crisis Medical said the scene was handed over to the SAPS for further investigation and processing. 

Meanwhile in northern KZN on Sunday, the SAPS Search And Rescue Dive Unit was contacted and informed of a drowning in a dam in the St Lucia area.  The SAPS said in a statement posted on Twitter that members recovered the body of a 13-year-old drowning victim at a depth of about 5.5m.
