Pretoria - Christina Masilo burst with excitement when Gauteng premier David Makhura handed her keys to her new home on Thursday.

The 43-year-old mother of two from Nellmapius Extension 21 was one of the recipients of houses handed over by Makhura, who is in the city as part of Ntirhisano service delivery outreach programme.

“I’m so excited to have received a decent house. I would like to thank our government for this house. Things were hard before, but now life will now be better,” said Masilo.

The premier, accompanied by Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Paul Mashatile, handed over four houses in Extension 21 and 24 in Mamelodi. They were also joined by other ANC officials.

Makhura’s visit to the City was a follow up to assess progress made in delivering government services to the community.

It will conclude with a public meeting to help solve the challenges the resident may be facing.
