An unemployed man of Limpopo who arrested two suspected murderers, is himself a wanted criminal, according to a report on Monday.

Sipho Sebela, 23, of Burgersdorp, had been sought by police since 2007, reported Beeld newspaper.

In June this year, he witnessed an accident involving a police van which was transporting two accused in a murder case.

Sebela helped the injured policemen out of the crashed vehicle, and then used their handcuffs to cuff the two suspects in the back of the vehicle.

He also kept the policemen's service pistols and handed them over to officers who arrived at the scene outside Ritavi in Limpopo.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said that when the police asked him for his ID number after his heroic actions, he said he could not remember it.

Further investigations revealed that he allegedly stole a car in Tzaneen in 2007, and was also allegedly involved in two break-ins in 2008.
