Polokwane - Limpopo police commissioner Lt-Gen Nneke Ledwaba has condemned in the strongest possible terms acts of vigilantism and mob killings still taking place in some parts of the province.

This followed the alleged kidnapping and brutal killing of two men aged 29 and 30 and attempts to kill two others in Polokwane, Limpopo police spokesperson Lt-Col Moatshe Ngoepe said on Saturday.

The latest incident took place on Friday afternoon when a group of men travelling in minibuses "went on the rampage and committed this heinous acts".

"It is alleged that a group of unknown men travelling with combis [minibuses], went out looking for the two deceased and the other two, until they found some along the way and went over to collect the fourth one at his parental home outside Polokwane. They accused them of being involved in a series of criminal activities in and around the city and they subsequently took them to the Polokwane CBD."

Upon arriving at the corner of Risk and Devenish streets, they started to assault the four alleged criminals, killing two and seriously injuring the other two, who were later taken to hospital for treatment after intervention by police.

The suspects in this matter were still unknown and no arrests had been made yet. Anyone with information which could lead to the arrest of the suspects could contact Captain Boshomane at 079-894-5501, or the nearest police station or the crime stop number 08600-10111 or the crime line sms 32211, Ngoepe said.
