Deputy police Minister Fikile Mbalula featured in the Brett Kebble murder saga in the Johannesburg High court on Wednesday morning when the slain mining magnate's butler spoke of secret cellphones the two used to communicate.

Also mentioned by Andrew Minnaar was a man named Lunga.

"He purchased cellphones for Fikile Mbalula and Lunga," said Minnaar when asked under cross examination to detail the number of cellphones Kebble had.

The phones, Minnaar said, were used solely for calling the two men and kebble "freaked out" when somebody other than the two men called him on the reserved lines.

"There was a time I called him on one of the numbers he had used to call me and he freaked out that I had such a number. I explained that I was returning his call," said Minnaar.

He earlier told the court about a close relationship Kebble shared with Glenn Agliotti, the man accused of murdering him.

Agliotti, who has pleaded not guilty for the murder and two other charges, was one of the people who frequented Kebble's Northern Johannesburg home.

He also spoke about how Kebble's behaviour and routine had changed during a month leading up to his September 2005 shooting.

The trial continues.
