Mbeki appoints nine judges

President Thabo Mbeki has approved the appointment of nine judges throughout South Africa, the Presidency said on Thursday.

The president expressed his confidence in the appointments after he accepted the recommendations of the Judicial Service Commission, a statement said.

One appointment had being made to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein, one to the Cape provincial division, two to the Natal provincial division, four to the Transvaal provincial division and one to the Mmabatho High Court.

The appointments are: Belinda Jane van Heerden (Supreme Court of Appeal), Daniel Vuminkosi Dlodlo (Cape Provincial Division), Simon King Ndlovu and Kantharuby Pillay (Natal Provincial Division), Malesela Frans Legodi, Boissie Henry Mbha, Halima Khanam Saldulker, Moroampholo Philemon Tsoka (Transvaal Provincial Division) and Adolph Adriaan Landman (Mmabatho High Court).

Mbeki congratulated the judges and wished them well in executing their judicial responsibilities. - Sapa
