Nelspruit - Two people were injured in a plane crash in Mpumalanga on Wednesday, ER24 said in a statement on Wednesday.

ER24 spokesman Pieter Rossouw said the plane crashed between Barberton and Badplaas.

“When ER24 paramedics arrived on scene they found that the pilot of the plane had sustained critical injuries and the passenger sustained moderate injuries. The plane allegedly started to lose altitude and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing.”

Rossouw said ER24 paramedics treated and transported the moderately injured patient to Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit for further treatment.

The pilot was airlifted to Mediclinic Nelspruit.
