Ermelo - Two pedestrians were killed when they were knocked over by a car on the N2 highway just outside Ermelo in Mpumalanga, the ER24 private ambulance service said on Monday.
The paramedic service said the victims, a man and a woman believed to be in their 30s, died on Sunday night.
"ER24 paramedics, along with the Provincial EMS, arrived on the scene shortly after 19h00 to find a light motor vehicle on the side of the road. The body of a woman was found in the road while the body of a man was found approximately 20 metres away in a ditch."
The driver of the car escaped injury.
Police were on the scene investigating the crash.
