Cape Town - A witness has captured a cash-in-transit heist which took place on the N4 Crocodile Gorge between Malelane and Nelspruit.
According to the footage, the heist involved more than 10 suspects driving in four vehicles.
According to a report by the Lowvelder, it is alleged that suspects who were driving in a black Mercedes, two BMWs, one grey and one black, as well as a white bakkie, opened fire at the Fidelity Security armoured bakkie, which was coming from Malalane side and heading towards Mbombela.
The suspects pounce when the van comes to a halt.
The footage shows an explosion before the suspects approach the van again.
The witness can be heard calling the police to alert them to the robbery before driving away.
One security guard was injured and their firearms taken, the Lowvelder reported earlier on Wednesday.
The suspects reportedly escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.
