Nazly Solomon, the ex-wife of ANC stalwart Imam Gassan Solomon - who died last month - has lodged a complaint against a private hospital after a nurse there allegedly turned off Solomon's life support machine in front of his 12-year-old daughter Aminah with no warning.

Aminah said she had been holding her father's hand when a nurse came into the room and started to remove the oxygen pipes.

Nazly Solomon has accused the hospital of negligence and insensitivity, saying it acted "unethically and irresponsibly" when it removed Solomon's oxygen pipes and let him die in front of a minor.

Hospital manager Clive Lake said the hospital had the family's permission to turn off the life support machine.
