She's statuesque, breathtakingly gorgeous and doesn't look like she's in any need of the legendary cleavage enhancing Wonderbra - not for the next three decades at least.

Elbe, 20, is the brand's new "it" girl, making it a hat-trick for Afrikaans girls and a double-header for the Northern Free State, as the Kroonstad-born model takes over from Welkom's Leischen Botes.

"It's mind-blowing," she said in her husky voice of Thursday night's announcement, having beaten several hundred hopefuls across the country to become the face of the bra first made famous by Eva Herzigova.

She faces a barrage of media shoots, publicity events and functions in the year ahead, at many of which she will be clad only in Wonderbra lingerie.

It's not something that fazes her in the least, she loves the brand.

"They push you up, they're lacy and very sexy and come in different colours for all ages and body shapes - I had every single set available long before I was chosen.

"They're hot and every single woman wants to look hot for their man, don't they?" she said, her eyebrow arched.

Elbe, who Wonderbra management are consciously marketing without using her surname, is the first face of the iconic bra to boast tattoos - one on her wrist and the other on her ankle.

They're butterflies, inked in memory of her late dad who called her his "butterfly girl" as he trained her on the athletics field and inspired her to win junior national colours.

By the age of 12, she had junior Free State colours in tennis, squash, hockey, netball.

Spotted at the age of 15 by model scouts, Fanie and James, Elbe gave up her budding athletics career to concentrate on the ramp.

"I'm actually a plain Jane, I love to be around people, especially those I love," she says, "it's something in modelling that's rare, you have to keep yourself grounded to let people relate to you." - Staff Reporter
