Brits - Four men accused of the murder of two women from Mooinooi in the North West province appeared briefly in the Brits Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Their case was postponed to January 5 to verify the age of one of the accused who claims he is a minor. According to the charge sheet he is 18-years-old. The court also wanted officers to verify whether two of the other accused were legally in the country. They are Mozambican nationals.

Aaron Sithole, 23, the teenager, and Koos Strydom, 53, were arrested in Majakaneng near Mooinooi on December 14. Alex Mudau was arrested a day later, also in Majakaneng.

The four are facing two counts of murder, kidnapping, robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm and defeating the ends of justice.

They allegedly kidnapped, robbed and killed Joey van Niekerk, 32, and Gesina Sophia Anisha van Niekerk, 30.

The two went missing on December 10. They were on their way to a funeral in Pretoria, but never arrived at their destination.

Their car was found burnt on December 16 in the Magaliesburg area. Police expect to make more arrests. Their bodies have not been found.
