Cape Town - Police Minister Bheki Cele on Friday warned religious movements that the police would act against those who defied the government's ban on large gatherings imposed in response to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Cele said if the police found more than 100 congregants in any religious service, they would act against whoever was leading it.
"We are making the call: stop that thing," Cele said.
He stressed that there would be no exemptions to the 100-person limit on gatherings.
"So there is no need for you to go to the police station to get permission for more than 100 people," he said.
