Cape Town - Police made a gruesome discovery at the weekend when they found the buried bodies of a mother and her baby inside a black bag.

Cops visited the Marigold Street home in Thubelisha, Delft, on Saturday where they found the two bodies which had already started decomposing.

Police sources say the infant’s remains were chopped up and a post-mortem would be conducted to establish the age and gender of the baby.

They say the smell was “unbearable” when the bodies were removed from the scene.

It is believed a note had also been found near the bodies, although it is unclear at this stage what it said.

“The smell was so bad inside those bags and the baby was chopped up,” explains the horrified source.

“We do not know how long they’ve been dead. A note was found at the scene. There was no one arrested.”

Police spokesman, Captain FC van Wyk, says they have opened a double murder investigation.
