Cape Town law officer bust for drugs resigns

Cape Town -  A City of Cape Town Law Enforcement Officer who was recently arrested for possession of drugs worth almost R2 million, has resigned.

The 31-year-old officer, Clinton Langeveldt, has resigned from his position, the City said on Thursday.

Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith confirmed Langeveldt will not return to work but added "he still faces criminal prosecution".

Langeveldt was arrested in Bellville South last week by members of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) after being found in possession of 41 000 mandrax tablets valued at nearly R2 million.
