Music and media producer Spencer Proffer partnered with the Blue Train, the epitome of South African luxury rail travel, to celebrate jazz music through a private screening of John Scheinfeld’s acclaimed documentary, Chasing Trane, onboard the iconic ‘Blue Jewel’.

Chasing Trains tells the story of legendary jazz musician John Coltrane.

As is customary on the ultra-luxury train, guests were treated to the finest foods paired with the best South African wines and complemented by stunning views.

The two-day experience featured six popular, contemporary South African jazz musicians who performed original compositions in the spirit of the jazz legend at key destinations  and culminated in a private concert for the Blue Train guests in the fields of the famed Delaire Graff Wine Estate in Stellenbosch.

South African artist Dr. Bone and respected jazz saxophonist McCoy Mrubata joined Ronnie and Eloise Laws and Lita Gaithers Owens, with other hot, local artists to provide the entertainment at both Delaire Graff and a public concert at the Kaleidoscope Club.

Local music producer, composer and Grammy nominee Don Laka was in charge of the musical aspects of the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
