Cape Town could be the venue for Prince William’s stag party, which will reportedly be held a month before his wedding to Kate Middleton, according to the British press and Twitter posts.
Britain’s Daily Mail reported this week that William’s close friend Guy Pelly is helping organise the prince’s stag party, which could take place in Cape Town.
The newspaper said Pelly’s former girlfriend Susanna Warren is moving here to work for a burlesque club venture and that Pelly wants to organise the party with her in an attempt to win her back.
A friend told the newspaper: “Guy was distraught when Susanna told him she was going to South Africa for six months, and he has tried everything he can to persuade her to stay.
“He was convinced it would mean he would lose her for good. So he’s offering to help her out with her new role as the VIP and PR liaison for the club. He is very well connected.”
The friend said: “Both William and Harry love Africa. And Guy is convinced that if they decide to go to Cape Town, it would keep him in with Susanna. After all, there would be trips over there to recce things and a lot of liaising.
“Of course, everything has to be kept quiet because of security. But there is talk that if it goes ahead, it will be in late March, about a month before the wedding.
“William is very fond of Guy and wants to help if he can.”
On Twitter, users posted speculation and suggestions for the party.
One tweeter said: “Prince William could return to South Africa for a stag party before his wedding in April. Harry and friends are considering Cape Town.”
Another said: “Yes, I may have recommended Mavericks to him.” Mavericks is a local strip club.
Cape Town Chamber of Commerce president Michael Bagraim said that it would be fantastic if the party was held in Cape Town.
“They chose it because they couldn’t find a better place. We endorse any event like this. They chose it because Cape Town is ideal, safe, secure and reasonably priced. The royals have been coming here for centuries,” he said.
