The festive season is the perfect time to buckle up for some great road-tripping on the West Coast Way to discover the undiscovered.

It offers six specially planned and themed family-friendly routes that make your festive season travel bucket list experience both magical and memorable!

So let's get your motor running…

Start your journey by visiting the arresting hills of Darling for wine tasting at Groote Post farm, founded in 1706.

Spend the night Disa Lodge B&B, where a short walk takes you to the Darling Museum, Darling Sweet toffee crafters, numerous restaurants, the Ormond Wine Farm and the Darling Wine Shop.

Pop into Darling Brew, Africa's first carbon-neutral brewery for artisanal beers to sample some of the best local craft beers.

Only 80km from Cape Town lies the famous Riebeek Valley, home to the quaint sister villages of Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West.

Heading up the R27, the Thali Thali Game Lodge in Langebaan offers visitors a restaurant, pool, kiddies' play area and archery lessons for those who would like to embrace their inner warrior.

Accommodation choices vary from the spacious farmhouse, self-catering chalets to rustic tents. Game drives offer an array of wildlife, including Cape buffalo, kudu, giraffe, blue wildebeest and a wide range of buck, to name a few.

Further along the R27 lies the coastal fishing town of Velddrif. The heritage site of Bokkomlaan, located on the banks of the Berg River is accessible by a dirt road scattered with historic buildings and jetties.

After you head back to land take the opportunity to enjoy a delicious lunch at Ek & Djy, followed by artisanal coffee at The Columbine Co – both of which are housed in quaint little fishing sheds.

Further up is Verlorenvlei, a stunning estuary that connects Redelinghuys to Elands Bay.

Relish the west coast nature with bird watching, hiking, horse riding, surfing, fishing and discovering rock art and plant life at Vensterklip Guest Farm and its Red Shed Farmstall.

A visit to view San and Khoi rock art in the Elands Bay Cave is a must!

The West Coast is renowned for birdwatching - Velddrift.

Lambert's Bay, the ‘Diamond of the West Coast’ is a worthwhile visit and the Sandveld Museum lets visitors relive the early years in the area.
