President Jacob Zuma has conveyed his condolences to the family of former Kaizer Chiefs player and TV presenter Isaac “Shakes” Kungwane, presidency spokesman Mac Maharaj said on Thursday.

“On behalf of government and the people of South Africa, I wish to convey my sincere condolences to the family, friends and the soccer fraternity for this untimely loss. May his soul rest in peace,” Zuma said in a statement.

Kungwane died aged 43 on Wednesday, after being admitted to hospital.

He is survived by his wife and three children.

“The former Kaizer Chiefs, Manning Rangers and Bafana Bafana midfield wizard and witty Supersport soccer analyst was regarded as one of South Africa's greatest ball-passers,” said Zuma. - Sapa
