Groot Marico - Security was tight on Wednesday at the site in Groot Marico near Zeerust, where President Jacob Zuma was arrested during the anti-apartheid struggle.
Zuma was expected to officially open the Groot Marico Heritage Site and the Liberation Heritage Route of North West, where activists crossed as they went into exile to continue the struggle against apartheid.

The President was arrested together with other uMkhonto we Sizwe recruits travelling in four minibuses, which were intercepted by police, leading to their arrest and detention in Zeerust and Groot Marico police stations.
