Johannesburg – A two-year-old girl drowned Wednesday morning at a residence in Olivedale Johannesburg, ER24 paramedics said in a statement.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene at around 10:40, along with Life Healthcare paramedics, and found the child and mother on the pavement outside the residence.
"Paramedics quickly assessed the child and found no signs of life, CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated, in an effort to revive the patient," said Meiring.
"Unfortunately, after 30 minutes, no vital signs returned and the child was pronounced dead on the scene."
It is believed that the family had pulled the child out of the pool and carried her to the sidewalk. An investigation is underway.
