Pinetown - Two men have been arrested after a Hillcrest man was shot and stabbed in his home, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Saturday.

The pair, aged 27 and 30, were arrested on Friday night by a provincial task team, Captain Thulani Zwane said.

Police were still searching for a third man believed to be involved in the crime.

On Thursday, the victim was in his house with his family when they were attacked by three intruders at around 8pm.

The man was shot and stabbed on his body. The gang fled in his bakkie taking items including a cellphone, television set, dvd player and clothing.

The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby with some of the stolen goods in it.

The injured man was taken to hospital.

The two are due to appear in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on charges of robbery and attempted murder on Monday. - Sapa
