London - The space thriller was the big winner at the Oscars. But a very select group of people aren’t rushing to see Gravity.
The wives of astronauts featuring in a new TV series have revealed they are too scared to watch the film while their husbands are being launched into space.
Candi Mastracchio, wife of astronaut Rick, said: “I haven’t seen the film. When it first came out, it was right before he was launching, and I really didn’t want to see it. I wasn’t sure how it ended. I will watch it, but I don’t think I’m quite ready yet.”
Julie Hopkins, who is married to astronaut Mike, added: “I’ve not seen Gravity. I had too many people tell me, ‘Your husband’s up there, don’t go see it’.”
Britain’s Channel 4’s forthcoming Live From Space will follow three spacemen as they work on the International Space Station.
The first of three episodes is set to be broadcast on Wednesday.
The new series will feature the astronauts carrying out space walks similar to those in Gravity. The film, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, tells the story of two astronauts adrift in space after their space shuttle is destroyed. - Daily Mail
