A boy of three is thought to have become the youngest child found carrying drugs.

He took three bags of cannabis into his reception class in Salford. They were only discovered when one fell out of his pocket.

When asked where the drugs - worth around £20 - had come from, the boy replied: ‘It’s my dad’s for his cigs.’

Police later arrested his stepfather at his flat. He admitted possessing cannabis and said he had left the bags beside his bed before going to work.

The 25-year-old will be sentenced next month at Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester.

Social services are understood to be working with the three-year-old’s mother to ensure his safety.

Last year, two boys aged eight were caught showing packets of cannabis to fellow pupils at a primary school in Blackpool. - Daily Mail
