At least 26 people died on Friday after a truck carrying fireworks exploded and caused a bridge to collapse on an expressway in central China, state media said.

Several vehicles fell from the bridge after the explosion about 9am (01.00 GMT) in the Sanmenxia area of Henan province, China Central Television reported.

Rescue services rushed to the site and the exact number of casualties remained unclear, it said. - Sapa-dpa
