A Jordanian schoolboy pleaded “mistreatment” on Thursday as prosecutors pressed murder charges over the killings of his father, mother, two brothers and an uncle.
Amman prosecutor Mohammad Bakhit charged Omar Botush, 17, with five counts of murder.
“I shot them dead because they pressured me, and my father mistreated me,” Botush told the prosecutor.
Murder is punishable by death in Jordan but the suspect faces a maximum of 10 years in jail because he is a teenager, a judicial official told AFP.
A police spokesman told AFP the boy was arrested less than 24 hours after the crime in the Sweileh district of north Amman.
His father worked as a teacher and his uncle was a retired army colonel, while both brothers were students, the spokesman added. - Sapa-AFP
