Warsaw - Nobel Peace Prize laureates are discussing challenges facing the world: armed conflicts, economic inequality and migration.

The 13th annual summit opened on Monday and is being held - for the first time - in Eastern Europe to mark 30 years since former Polish president Lech Walesa was awarded the prize for leading the Solidarity movement that toppled communism in Poland.

The Soviet Union's last president, Mikhail Gorbachev, initiated the summits in 2000.

Iran's Shirin Ebadi, South Africa’s former president FW de Klerk and the Dalai Lama are among the participants.
