Acapulco - Six Spanish women tourists were raped early on Monday by masked gunmen at a resort in Acapulco, Mexico, authorities said.

“There were six women who were raped,” Acapulco mayor Luis Walton Aburto told a briefing.

Walton said the group of tourists was attacked outside a house in Barra Vieja, and that hooded gunmen raped the six women who were with another seven Spaniards as well as a Mexican woman.

“We are now working on (victims' and witnesses') statements ... and looking for likely potential suspects,” said Guerrero state prosecutor Martha Elva Garzon.

She said witnesses had no solid descriptions of the suspects because they were wearing masks. - AFP
