The Spring Festival is the most important festival for all Chinese, and for them this is their New Year.

Broadcast on the eve of every Chinese New Year, the Spring Festival Gala has long been the highlight of many Chinese families’ celebrations. 

This annual television show first began on China Central Television in 1983 and is certified by Guinness World Records as the TV show with the largest world audience - usually exceeding 1.3 billion.

On January 24, 2020, the CCTV Spring Festival Gala will be broadcast simultaneously by more than 460 media outlets, in 170 countries and regions around the world.

DSTV447, the CCTV Chinese channel, will broadcast the Spring Festival Gala from 2 pm to 6 pm South African time. 

In addition, DSTV409, the CGTN English channel, will broadcast a special festival programme from 1:30 pm to 4 pm South African time.
