‘Youngest billionaire’ denied bail

The trial of South Africa's self-proclaimed youngest billionaire was postponed by the Orlando Magistrate's Court on Monday, a court official said.

The case against Mandla Lamba was postponed until July 29 for further investigation, said the official, who did not want to be named. He would remain in custody.

Lamba faces 15 charges of fraud, theft and culpable homicide relating to a 2007 car accident in which two people died.

He was denied bail because he was considered a flight risk.

Lamba claims to a have become a billionaire at the age of 25 from interests in gold, diamond and manganese mining. - Sapa
