The housing market is back in full swing with in-person showings and even live open houses.

One has to be cautious though when opening houses, for all parties’ safety, says Adrian Goslett, chief executive of Re/Max of Southern Africa.

Clients can drive to the properties by themselves and, once there, keep safe distancesbetween all in the homes. They should also wear mandatory face masks.

“Our agents are required to provide hand sanitiser for their clients, but in case they run out, it is always best to bring along your own. Hands should be sanitised before and after entering the home.” Avoid touching surfaces inside.

Goslett adds: “Remember that you are entering a home – someone’s safe space – during unsettling times. The homeowner may have certain requests, like requiring visitors to wear gloves or shoe coverings...”

Due to number limits within each home, buyers may also need to wait for their turn outside.
