Paris – Kenya's 800 metres world record holder David Rudisha has ruled himself out of the Rome leg of the Diamond League due to a lack of race form, organisers said Monday.

Rudisha has been suffering from tendinitis in his left foot – an injury niggle which also ruled him out of the opening leg of the series in Doha on May 6.

The 22-year-old Rudisha was voted athlete of the year in 2010, which he finished on a high note by twice improving the 800m world record, clocking 1min 41.09sec on August 22 then 1:41.01 a week later.

Unbeaten this year over the distance, Rudisha also holds the fastest time so far this season with 1:43.88 on March 3 in Melbourne, Australia.
