EUGENE – Three South African athletes will carry the flag on Saturday night when they take on some the world's best in their respective disciplines at the third stop of the IAAF Diamond League series in Eugene, USA.

World champion Caster Semenya, who won the 1500m race at the first leg of the series in Doha earlier this month, will compete in the 800m women's event.

She faces a full-strength field which features perennial rivals Francine Niyonsaba of Burundi and Margaret Wambui of Kenya, as well as rising American star Ajee Wilson.

In the men's 200m, former World Championships medallist Anaso Jobodwana, will go up against world champion Ramil Guliyev of Turkey, powerhouse sprinter Isaac Makwala of Botswana and 20-year-old speedster Noah Lyles of the United States.

Also lining up against the global elite in a strong field, Dominique Scott-Efurd will go toe-to-toe in the women's 5 000m, with world champion Hellen Obiri of Kenya spearheading the field.
